- Name of the book can from the Abbey of Kells in county Meath Ireland.

- Thought to have begun in Iona and brought to Kells there are competing theories of it being produced in Scotland or England to while ending up in Kells.
- Most likely made in Iona due to close associations with Columban monks who produced the book. The Columban monks were mosty located in Iona.
